GEPON. short for Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network, is a point to multipoint, fiber to the premises network architecture in which unpowered optical splitters are used to enable a single fiber to serve multiple premises, typically 16 ~ 128. It consists of OLT, ODN (The Optical Distribution Network), ONU, etc. The downstream signals are broadcast to all premises sharing a single fiber, while upstream signals are using TDMA technology.

SUN Telecom’s SUN-GE9100 series EPON solution provides carriers with faster time to revenue and more average revenue per unit (ARPU) while delivering the increased bandwidth for high-speed connectivity requirements triple-play services (Data, voice, and video) for end user. The GE9100 Series OLT can support 8 GEPON PON ports and connect 512 remote ONU mostly (by 1:64 splitter), and provides 8 GE optical/electrical uplink interfaces, while SUN-GE9204P2R1 ONU could provide triple-play (Data, Voice and CATV) service to the subscriber. SUN Telecom’s EPON solution is an ideal FTTB/FTTP/FTTH access solution.
